But the farewell to the car-oriented city creates conflicts and requires strategy as well as political courage. How can a socially and environmentally sound urban transformation be achieved? Vorträge und Gespräche zu ökosozialer Politik, Flächengerechtigkeit, urbaner Obsoleszenz, Alltagsökonomie, grüner Gentrifizierung, Verkehrswende und Partizipation diskutieren Strategien und Fallstricke. Vertiefende Workshops zu taktischem Urbanismus in Barcelona, Mailand, Paris, Valencia und Wien, zu Partizipation, städtebaulichen Sharingmodellen und wirkungsvoller Klima-Kommunikation schaffen Einblicke und neues Wissen.

The event is part of the focus day

Paris' € 500 million participatory budget has produced a large number of small and large-scale projects of environmental, social and cultural urban regeneration in the years 2014-2020. More than 50 per cent of these projects concern improvements for the immediate living environment (25%), environmental issues (15%), and climate friendly transport and mobility (14%). What are participatory budgets good for? What do they imply for urban regeneration, urban democracy and the required urban transformation? Workshop in English.
